Audrey Deckinga

Audrey Deckinga, MSSW, LMSW

National Director of Agency Partnerships

With more than 35 years’ experience in the child welfare field, Audrey brings essential expertise to the CarePortal team. She’s served as a foster parent, Texas Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworker, supervisor, program director in the field. She later served as Director of Policy and Programs and the Assistant Commissioner at the state level for Texas CPS. Under her leadership, CPS crafted and implemented major reform. During her tenure, the number of children in care decreased, kinship care and adoptions increased, use of psychotropic medications for children in foster care decreased by more than 30% and faith-based partnerships were strengthened. The Global Orphan Project (GO Project), hearing of the work between church and state, assisted Texas with the collaboration between the church and state by developing CarePortal.

Audrey retired from state employment in 2014 and has consulted with several child welfare nonprofits, including GO Project. As the Director of Agency Partnerships, she works with child welfare systems to implement CarePortal across the country. Audrey and her husband of 44 years have three sons and five grandchildren, who are the joy of her life.
