Community Brings A Mother Closer to Reunifying with Her Children

A single mother in Montana is one step closer to safely reunifying with her four children who are in foster care. While preparing to start her new job as a CNA, this mom needed help to purchase work clothes, specifically scrubs and tennis shoes.

Her social worker, Hannah, entered the need into CarePortal, engaging the community to help with this request. Within 48 hours, not one, but TWO local churches responded that they could help provide the needed items.

‘Meeting this need prepared this mom to succeed in her new job,’ said Hannah. ‘This job will enable her to get her own place to live and provide a safe home for her children.’

Being able to safely reunite families is Hannah’s main motivation as a social worker. ‘Working with a parent, watching them bring themselves back up from their lowest point and demonstrating that resilience for their children is the most beautiful thing I will ever witness,’ she said. ‘Getting help from people in the community to meet needs is a great relief. Social workers are under a great deal of pressure to help families, and many times, we feel like we are doing it all alone. CarePortal has been very helpful in connecting us with more resources, demonstrating to us and the families we serve that our community truly cares.’
